Knox County Library

The Knox County Public Library in cooperation with the Knox County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA) and the related state, court and law enforcement agencies will select and distribute books to each of the following target audiences: those serving the children involved in Children in Need of Services (CHINS) cases, including professionals and CASA Volunteers, caregivers (foster parents and relatives) and the children themselves.

Trainings will be designed and delivered to the targeted adults so that the books received have the maximum effect in professional development and in children’s preparation to address their personal circumstances and enable them to gain positive control of their futures. The program will not only impact the three target populations but educate the community at large about child abuse issues and ramifications of these issues to build collaboration to address and correct destructive behaviors. The ultimate goal is to help break the cycle of child abuse and neglect with the subsequent result that this generation of young people will grow to be contributing productive adults.
