Reading on the Go at Union Station Lending Library

In the spring of 2015, The Union Station Redevelopment Corporation launched a lending library in Washington Union Station in Washington DC. The lending library provides travelers with free, easy access to books to read during their trips. It also gives them the opportunity to leave a book for other travelers.

The library was inspired by the Bryant Park Reading Room in New York City, which was founded in 1935 to provide access to books to anyone who didn’t have funds for books or the address or identification that would qualify them for a library card.

Better World Books provided books to launch the library in 2015 and continues to provide books to the lending library as it nears its two year anniversary. Better World Books is thankful for the opportunity to be part of a project that brings books into the paths of potential readers thereby encouraging more people to pick up a book.
